Sol Club Cayo Coco

The hotel has 3 restaurants and 3 bars. The lobby bar is 24 hour, the snack bar by the pool all day. The main restaurant is for breakfast, lunch and dinner which are all buffet style. The food ranges from pizzas (cooked to order) to frogs legs & octopus. There is always a roast and an excellent selection of starters. A favourite for breakfast was pancakes with syrup. Photographs of the buffet are available here.

For a quick snack the lobby bar also does pastries. During the day the pool bar does all things snacky– pizza, hot dogs, chips etc.

The Cuban beach restaurant opens for lunch buffet style and for dinner in the evenings Cuban– style food is cooked to order. For this, and for the A La Carte restaurant, you have to book.  The beach restaurant also has a bar open from lunch to 5pm. You can sneak in here in the afternoons dressed in beach wear to collect a cold drink or use the beach bar.

The wearing of swim wear in the lobby bar was a definite no-no in 2002 but see our 2004 update for more opinions on this.

There is entertainment each night from 9pm to 11pm and then the disco takes over until the small hours.

Vegetarians have to stick with omelettes in the main, vegans don’t stand a chance!

Each room has 2 double beds, aircon. and fridge.

Sol Club Cayo Coco is one of the Sol Melia Group Hotels which are sited all over the world. There are two on Cayo Coco and two on Cayo Guillermo alone.

We stayed at the Sol Club on Cayo Coco, which is deliberately targeted at families with children. The Sol Melia Cayo Coco seemed to have a great number of German and Spanish guests whilst our hotel was 90% British guests.
